Methods and Ideas

Paddle Leash by Martin W

Homemade leash, cost me no more than £4 to make and a bit of sewing, the webbing strap was about 50p a meter from b&q, small carabiner £1 from an outdoor shop and the toggle and elastic cord was about a couple of quid from a chandlers, and it all works a treat.

Anchor Reel by Richi

Anchor reel made out of an old paint roller a spool given to me by the local chandler a couple of floats and some kids handlebar grips.Real quick retrieval.

Mega cheap scupper plugs by Glyn

A piece of sponge makes an excellent scupper plug. Plugs aren't needed in the ocean waves where water in the yak is expected and unavoidable but in calm water, self bailing scuppers aren't needed and just let in water to an otherwise dry kayak. Scupper plugs cost about £15 each yet a sponge does the job 100% as effectively AND comes in handy for sponging up any water that splashes in when boarding.

Kayak Storage by Georgieb

Kayak storage with these by Travis Perkins. Cost only £23 and are 57mm wide and 82cm long. Made of Polyethelene and a pair can support 340kg. The tops cause no damage or scratches to yak and have round rubber grippers. They are made by "Stanley" and are called folding sawhorse junior. excellent for garage, loft, shed and I think it is possible for a second yak to be fitted between the lower legs. Another use is they fold flat and they could be transported to where your launching your yak. This could allow basic rigging and cleaning and keeps the yak off the floor and scratchy gravel.

Tackle Box by Terry

Plastic tackle box attached to wooden tackle box which is fitted to yak. Othr items like gps or compass etc can also be attached to the wooden tackle box so all can be intsalled as one on the yak saving time and space. One neat unit instead of various loose items.
